3. February 2012

February began bright and cold so we could got strolling to our favourite walk from Shireoaks Marina up to Turnerwood on the Cuckoo Walk along the Chesterfield Canal.

Then it turned a bit cold.

2. January 2012

Here is a view from my bedroom window looking out over towards the Penine hills on the horizon and the morning of 2nd January 2012.

And now the sunset of the 9th January.

Next is a view overlooking Sitwell Park and Whiston with Sheffield in the background on 10th January.

The back garden on the 12th January. So we did have some sunshine in 2012.

River Rother, under the M1, Canklow Meadows, 12th January.

With the sun setting.

Primulas in the garden

Snow on the Pennines but not quite getting to us, 28th January

1. Looking at 2012

Looking back over 2012 is looking back at my year with a Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera. It is a Canon EOS 1000D which came as a real January Sales bargain from Makro, Sheffield at the very end of the 2011. It came complete with 2 zoom lenses, 18-55mm and 75-300mm which have helped with taking some beautiful images throughout the year. The transition from my well used and slightly battered Kodak bridge camera was harder than I had expected but the rewards have been more than worth the effort. My hope is to use this blog to share some of the experiences I have had with this new toy.

This very sorry specimen was the very first picture I took with the new camera. It is a single remnant of a Basil pot I bought during December 2011 and I was determined to try to keep it going and alive for as long as I could. Never having been successful in this before I didn't expect it to survive for long this time. As of the date of writing this 12 months later it is still going strong, still a single 'stem' though.

Just to show it was during Christmas this shows the mantlepiece with some of the family cards.

And a selection of welcome gifts.
